I Heart Typography

typography in Motion

After spending all morning looking at typography I just had to talk about what I saw. I just love the type…

So that’s right, I spent about the last 4 hours looking a type. I found some new favorites, some stuff I cant afford, and some type in motion. On Adobe’s web site there are a series of five short movies about using typography in motion graphics projects with After Effects. They are a little cheesy but pretty cool to watch. This image at the top of this post is from one of the shorts. I like how they focused on typography in relation to motion graphics. I think that sometimes type becomes an after thought when it could play a staring role. If you haven’t seen the video’s yet you can see them in the store section of Adobe’s website.

Typography

Typography is a part of design that I just love. when I first saw these short video’s I was inspired. They made me think about the short video’s on tiypo.com. Tiypo.com is a latin typography site, I don’t read or speak spanish so I really don’t understand what’s on the site but I do know good design. Tiypo.com is some really good web design. Beyond that on the home page are a series of short video’s using each of the featured typefaces. My favorites are for the typefaces Rondana and Extendida. The type on tiypo.com is extraordinary, I just wish I spoke spanish so I could get my hands on some of it.

I also spent quite a while on the T.26 web site. The guys over at T.26 have been busy. The recent redesign is super cool, it is faster, much easier to use, and they have included the typesetter feature on all the pages that show off the type. A lot of typography site have a typesetter feature but the way T.26 incorporated it into their site is far and away the best. Now I just need to get one of those summer jobs I keep hearing about so I can drop some dollars on the type…
