Alternative Fuel

I have become more and more interested in the idea of a alternative fuel car lately. I have been thinking about what the world will be like when Frances (my 3 year old daughter) is my age. Will she live in the same world as I do? Things like hybrid cars are on the rise and car manufactures are taking notice. In the coming years this segment of the auto market is expected to make serious gains. This is comforting news to me. I believe that in the years to come people will finally take notice at the impact we are having on our planet and decide to do something about it. Hybrids are a good start on the right path but I think there are even better options out there. Options like electric cars or even air powered cars. I think that the idea that a alternatively power car can be as “fun” as a gas powered one is a notion that will help spread the popularity of these kind of automobiles. People don’t buy cars that they want they dream of the cars they want. No one dreams of buying a mini-van. People want something exotic, something that not everyone else has. Would’nt it be nice if it was environmentally friendly as well?

The Tesla roadster is an electric car that is trying to just that, be as fun as a gas powered sports car. From all accounts it is just that. With a top speed of around 130 miles per hour the Tesla is on fast machine. It produces produces only one tenth the pollution that other cars in it’s category. The best part is, they are selling. Tesla is now taking orders for 2008. That’s right they sold all the 2007 models and it’s still February. I hope someday I might be able to tell stories to my grandchrildren about how once cars ran on gas that we had to buy at special stores. Would’nt that be fun. People really are taking notice and with other options like this available who know we just might be able to save the world.
