A Little More About Me

We get a bit cheesy for the camera. As I have said I am Elliot Olson a communication design student at the Pacific Northwest College of art in Portland Oregon. I Have worked as a photographer for the past several years and decided to head back to school to finish up my degree. I was working at a local outdoor store as the in-house photographer in the internet department and found myself taking on more and more design tasks. I created advertisements, web pages, and did the vast majority of the production work on the photos I took of the products. I found that I liked design as much as I did photography and thought there was an interesting connection between the two.

Design seems to come naturally to me. I have been in school for just over two years now and am averaging A’s. I got a B in my Production class last term but it was really hard. I love the idea that as an artist the designers work has the furthest reach. If you create an identity for a company the likely hood of it being seen by thousands of people is very real. I have always like having my work be seen by a lot of people. I think that a designer has a lot of responsibility. I am looking forward to the future.

Deseign work

I live in Sellwood, a neighborhood just outside of Portland. I live here with my wife Robyn and daughter Frances. We spend as much time together as we can but lately our lives have been kind of hectic. Frances turned 3 in February and turned 30. If you would have asked me in high school I would have never thought I would make it to 30, much less have a 3 year old. Robyn works at a salon in northwest Portland and really loves her job. I spend the vast majority of my time keeping up with homework and working on this site. I am a senior this year and will be graduating in the winter of 07. Like every other college graduate I will be looking for a job. We are thinking we would like to stay on the west coast but are open to the idea of living in Austin Texas. I hope you have a little better idea of who I am now, that was the idea…
